Champions League returns with much anticipation
The quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League kickoff this week with first leg matches to be played today and tomorrow. Monaco, Borrusia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Leicester City, Juventus, Atletico de Madrid, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are the last eight teams remaining in the competition.
Today, Monaco will face Dortmund in Germany and Juventus will host Barcelona in Italy. Monaco and Dortmund have both shown great attacking flair throughout the competition thus far. This is a great match-up which has the potential to produce loads of goals. Juventus has shown the best defensive organization together with Atletico de Madrid so far. They are also capable of scoring goals with threats like Argentinian duo, rising star Paulo Dybala and Serie A top scorer Gonzalo Higuain leading their attack. They will face a Barcelona team which 6 goals in the second leg of their clash with PSG overturned a 4-0 deficit suffered in Paris in the first leg. The aggregate win reinforces Barcelona’s attacking superiority and the fact that their front trio of Messi, Neymar, and Suarez remains the most potent attacking combination in world soccer. It also underscores their defensive weaknesses which coach Massimiliano Allegri and his men will look to exploit.
