Have we seen the end of the Barcelona domination? Ten men Chelsea shock the soccer world as they eliminate defending champions, Barcelona and advance to the Champions League finals. With a spirited performance filled of Hollywood like tales, the London side scored at the end of the first half on a cheeky finish by Brazilian, Ramires and late in the second half when the unlikely hero of the game, Fernando Torres rounded the Barcelona keeper and put Roberto Di Matteo’s side through to the Champions League Final.

Goals from Busquets and Iniesta gave the lead early on to the Catalonian giants, but golden boy, Leo Messi’s missed penalty and faillure to convert a 20 yard attempt proved to be too costly for the defending Champions. Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona have now suffered their third consecutive defeats. Those results have now left them out of Spanish title race and the Champions League. Is the Barcelona Tiki-Taka being exposed?…

Chelsea awaits the winner of tomorrow’s much anticipated second leg semi-final between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Bayern won the first leg in Munich in dramatic fashion 2-1. Mario Gomez’ 90th minute heroic finish at the Allianz Arena gave the German side the advantage in the series and the first lost in the competition for Jose Morinho’s team.

2012 Summer Camp Dates Announced

The 2012 summer camp dates are now set. We are excited to offer our summer camp program at Tusculum College for the second year. There will be 3 camp options offered this summer. The first session, June 3 -7 will cater to campers ages 4 to 13 years old boys and girls. Depending on their age, campers will have the options to choose between day, half-day, and full-day. The second session, June 10-14 will be offered to elite campers ages 10 to 18 years old boys and girls and will offer commuter and residential options. Be sure to check the date for this session as some of the brochures were printed with the wrong date. The last session, July 27-30 will be for boys only ages 14 to 19 years old. This session is designed to prepare campers for the college game. All sessions can be attended as individual or as a team. There is a team discount that applies to each member. In addition, campers who register early will receive an early registration discount.

2012 Spring Training Session is Full

Registration for the spring training session is now closed. We are delighted with the number of players who have decided to join the Star Academy program’s first session in the Greeneville/Greene County area. We are at capacity and unfortunately will not be able to accept any more registrations for the spring session.

Soon we will announce our summer camp dates and will open registration for the Fall 2012 training session. If you missed out on registration for the spring, we hope you will consider joining us in the summer and in the fall.

Star Soccer Academy is now accepting registrations for the 2012 Spring Session which will be held in Greeneville Tennessee. We are excited to offer the Star Soccer Academy training methods to boys and girls ages 4-13 years old for the first time in the Greeneville/Greene County area. These practices are designed for children who are seeking supplemental skills training to their recreational or competitive team practices. The training sessions will be held on Monday evenings, 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Galaxy Soccer Fields on the Baileyton Highway.

Star Soccer Academy is a year round training program offering three training sessions and summer camps throughout the year. Stage Is Set For Barcelona vs Manchester United

Leo Messi outshines Ronaldo once again to help Barcelona secure a trip to Wembley on May 28. Manchester United easily disposed of Shalke 04 to reach Champions League Finals.

The stage is now set for what many see as a game that will settle the question of which is the best soccer league in the world? On one side we have Spanish giants Barcelona, arguably the current best side in the world and on the other Manchester United the team that looks most likely to win the English Premier League this season and consistently one of the best soccer teams in England.

Sir Alex Ferguson and his Manchester United team will look to revenge the humbling defeat which his side lead then by Cristiano Ronaldo suffered in Rome in the 2008 Champions League finals at the hands of a Barcelona team lead by coach Josep Guardiola and young Argentinian, Leo Messi. The contest which was heavily dominated by Barcelona ended in a 2-0 score with the Catalonians lifting the Champions League trophy for the third time in the club’s history.

After a heated semifinal series with rival Real Madrid which required several expulsions, and many subsequently imposed UEFA sanctions for unsportsman behavior and comments, Barcelona mesmorized the soccer world with their intricate passing, staying true to the Barcelona way of dominating possession, and forcing Real Madrid to opt for defending in their own half and chasing shadows for most of the 2 game series.

Manchester United which may have had an easier opponent, played very well throughout their 2 game series versus German side, Shalke. They showed great balance and flexibility and remained true to their high tempo, attacking soccer style, never taking the foot off the gas even when the contest seemed decided.

With the countdown begun, this years’ UEFA Champions League Finals has all the ingredients to be a classic in the tradition of this wonderful competition. We are all waiting with great anticipation for the kick-off on May 28th.

Late goals from Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney give Manchester United a two goal advantage over Schalke putting the Champions League Finals at Wembley within reach for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Leo Messi scored twice late in the first leg of the Champions League Semifinal series at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid as Barcelona takes a gigantic step towards Wembley.
